1) IS A RESTORED DOLL WORTH MORE?
This depends on who has done the restoration. Usually I can always tell
someone yes; but then, I have had to "redo" some restored dolls.
Marginal dolls will always have more value because they look better. They
are easier to sell and have much greater pleasure for the owner. Do not
take a mint doll, alter it and expect top dollar. (Back

2) CAN GREEN EARRED DOLLS BE SUCCESSFULLT TREATED?
A doll with green ears is a damaged doll. There are products that can lessen
the damage. I have had good success with some. It takes sometiomes months
to lessen some stains. I usually opt clients to keep plastic posts in these
dolls as any metal back in the ear will produce green again. I get very
upset when sellers advertise that their doll is mint with green ears. There
is no such animal.

3) WHAT IS A WASH? A wash is a very semi-permanent
way to recolor a doll's face. This way if the owner opts for original, the
paint is simply water removed.(Back to Top)
4) DO I JUST SEND THE HEAD? I always prefer
to have the whole doll sent as I then have to find the correct body to put
the head on as I work on it.(Back to Top)
5) IS THE PAINT YOU USE GOING TO RUN? No, the
paint I use is water based;however, I always seal the paint on the face
so you have a better product. I use quality paints on these dolls that are
replaced regularly.(Back to Top)
6) THE ORIGINAL RUBBERBAND HAS DISINTEGRATED INTO
THE DOLL'S HAIR. WHAT SHOULD I DO? Some people here would say an original
doll is better. That is because they have never tried to remove the gunk
from one of these dolls. I say "GET IT OTTA THERE!" What happens
is the glue rots into the hair fiber and you end up with damaged hair on
the top of the doll.(Back to Top)
7) WHAT CAN BE DONE WITH A GREASY FACED DOLL? You
can take a q-tip and go over the doll's face with alcohol or 409 Degreaser.
I would not touch any paint with it. If you are brave and remove the doll'
shead, also swab the inside of the head. Finish off with a touch of powder.(Back

8) CAN I PUT EARRINGS IN A DOLL WITHOUT HER EARS TURNING
GREEN? Yes, you can . The green from the old dolls is from metal that
Mattel used back then. I would always opt coat the earrings with a clear
nail polish or use plastic posts just to make sure that there is NO metal
to plastic contact. .(Back to Top)
9) WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF THE DOLL IS ON THE WRONG
BODY? I have fixed so many neck splits on dolls. This is because somewhere
someone has forced a doll's neck opening onto the wrong doll body. Some
dolls can not take a large neck knob of the Midge / Barbie bodies for example.
Be sure to use the right body for your dolls. Additionally another factor
to consider, wrong neck knobs can alter the way a doll's face appears in
relation to the body.(Back to Top)
10) MY DOLL HAS SOME UNEVEN HAIR. DOES SHE NEED A
REROOT? Not so. I do wonders with extentions I put into the dolls head
to thicken or give length. Sometimes a reroot is the only way to give the
look again, but not always.(Back to Top)
